Nursing course
Nursing courses offer practical guidance and information, but also advice and support for caring relatives and volunteers. In Germany, they are a mandatory service provided by the long-term care insurance funds for voluntary carers and interested persons. The entitlement to nursing courses is stipulated in § 45 SGB XI . Participation in nursing courses is free of charge for the participants, the costs are covered by the nursing insurance .
Care funds run care courses themselves or offer them in cooperation with other service providers, such as B. Nursing services , social stations , the adult education center or associations of the voluntary welfare service .
aims
The aim of the care courses is to facilitate home care for relatives and to improve the quality of voluntary care. Overall, home care should be promoted, also in order to avoid full inpatient care as much as possible or to postpone it for as long as possible. As the number of people in need of care increases, so does the need for people and relatives who ensure home care.
target group
Nursing courses are aimed at volunteer carers. Interested parties who do not (yet) have any relatives to care for can also take part. It is also irrelevant whether long-term care insurance benefits are already being drawn. The group of participants thus not only includes caregivers in the narrower sense, but all those interested in finding out more about home care .
Content
Nursing courses aim to impart important knowledge and skills that are important for caring for people in need of care at home . In addition to information about benefits, the correct positioning and movement of people in need of care, z. B. also provides advice on proper nutrition and tips on basic care . An important component is also information about and support in the case of care-related personal psychological and physical stress on the caring relatives, as well as general advice on relevant care services, care aids and benefits from other social service providers .
methodology
Nursing courses are usually conducted as group courses or individual in-house training. The DAK health has since 2015 with the DAK care coach the first online-based care course for volunteer nurses to. The German-language online nursing course "Dementia Special" has been available since 2016 for relatives of people with dementia.
