The Pfundsalm
The alpine settlement of Pfundsalm-Niederleger

The Pfundsalm is an alpine pasture area in the Tuxer Voralpen , which lies south of the Hochfügen hotel settlement at an altitude of about 1600 to 2300 meters and forms the end of the Finsingtal valley .

The basin in which the Pfundsalm is located is framed by the Pfaffenbichl in the west, the Roßkopf in the southwest , the Sidanjoch in the south and the Marchkopf in the east . In the Pfundsalm area there are several alpine settlements ( Niederleger 1640  m above sea level , Mittelleger 1832  m above sea level ), but there is no place to stop for refreshments. These can be reached from Hochfügen on a wide farm road, which, however, is closed to public transport.

A large number of smaller still waters are scattered over the entire area of the Pfundsalm , which are known as Pfundsalm lakes and form the headwaters of the Finsingbach . The three largest of these waters are in the southern area of the Pfundsalm and can be reached from Sidanjoch via a simple hiking trail. The two upper Pfundsalm lakes are located just below the Pfundsjoch at an altitude of 2290 meters, in the midst of flat and treeless cirques on the southwestern edge of the alpine pasture area. The larger of these two lakes is about 90 by 40 meters.
