Phase V was a hip-hop crossover group from Braunschweig founded in 1993 .
history
The band Phase V produced a total of three studio albums during their active time. Stylistically, she was characterized by German spoken singing using live instruments and samples from the horror film genre. After first attempts at the demo tape Please God (self-produced in 1993), the debut album Mental Metamorphosis in particular , released in 1994 by the Braunschweig hip-hop independent label Rap Nation Records , on which other Braunschweig bands such as Such a Surge and State of Departmentz were under contract, numerous positive press reviews. The group performed live at the stationVIVA in the Freestyle program and on the Berlin radio station Kiss FM .
During a first tour in Germany, Phase V played as the opening act (support) for the renowned US hip-hop crew Wu-Tang Clan . In 1995 a second tour followed with the New Zealand group Supergroove , during which the band presented their second "longplayer" Murder to the audience. After the last studio album Die Reise ins Ich (released in 1996 on their own label "Phase Music"), the individual band members concentrated on their own projects.
