The Phelps rock (in Argentina Islote Patito ) is an island-like cliff rock of 10  m height off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located southwest of Hugo Island in the western entrance to the French Passage .

A Royal Navy hydrographic unit charted him from HMS Protector between 1966 and 1967 . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 1971 after Edmund Malcolm Stuart Phelps (1928-2017), first officer (1966-1972) and then captain (1972-1991) of the RRS John Biscoe , who was responsible for the work of the hydrographic unit in the area had supported.
