The website Eatsmarter.de ( spelling EAT SMARTER) is an online portal with a focus on nutrition , health and fitness . The website is operated by Eat Smarter GmbH & Co. KG, which was founded in 2009 by Dirk Manthey.

Company and establishment

Dirk Manthey previously founded and headed the Milky Way publishing group (including “ TV Spielfilm ”, “ Fit for Fun ”). After this was taken over by the media group Hubert Burda Media in 2005 , Manthey shifted the focus of his life from Hamburg to California , USA. From there, Eatsmarter.de was launched as an online portal for healthy eating.

Since 2017 there has been an American branch under the domaine Eatsmarter.com with headquarters in Malibu , California.

Content

The online portal offers a recipe collection of over 100,000 recipes (as of May 2018). Most of the recipes are developed in collaboration with nutritionists especially for Eat Smarter or by the publisher's own recipe department. Users have the option of filtering the recipe database according to different categories. The recipes are sorted by topic and summarized in cookbooks.

An online editorial team provides daily information on current health and nutrition topics in the form of scientifically researched articles, news and blogs. The website also provides video cooking schools with chefs such as Cornelia Poletto and Sarah Wiener as well as videos in which questions about health and nutrition are answered.

magazine

After the portal Eatsmarter.de went online in January 2010, the first edition of the magazine EatSmarter followed in October 2010 ! . The magazine is based on the concept of the website and, in addition to recipes, also provides editorial nutrition and health topics. EatSmarter! appears every two months with a sold circulation of more than 100,000 copies (as of January 2018). In addition, several special issues with different focus topics are published every year.

App

The EAT SMARTER app is available for iOS and Android devices.

Cooking Star

Every year, Eat Smarter and its cooperation partners organize the Germany-wide Cooking Star competition . The aim of this competition is to choose the best amateur chefs. It is the largest hobby cooking competition in Germany.

Eat Smarter GmbH offers cooking courses across Germany and publishes cookbooks in Riva Verlag . The media company is also co-operator of the market kitchen in Hamburg's Rindermarkthalle .

Range

Eatsmarter.de has a monthly reach of over 10 million visits and almost 40 million page impressions (as of January 2017).
