The Philadelphia Comets were an American ice hockey team from Philadelphia , Pennsylvania . The team played in the North Eastern Hockey League in the 2005/06 season . The team did not play any home games and only played away; but trained in Philadelphia.

The team was founded in 2005 as a franchise of the North Eastern Hockey League , which operated under the name Continental Professional Hockey League in the 2005/06 season . The regular season, planned with 44 games, was canceled in mid-December 2005 after only six games due to economic problems.
