Philip John Kennedy Burton

Philip John Kennedy Burton (born January 9, 1936 in Highgate , London ) is a British ornithologist and animal illustrator.

life and work

In 1956 Burton began studying zoology at University College London , which he completed in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree. From 1959 to 1960 he completed postdoctoral studies in education at the University of London . In 1964 he was a founding member of the Society of Wildlife Artists . From 1967 to 1988 he was the senior scientific officer in the bird department of the British Museum . In 1969 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the anatomy and behavior of waders for Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of London. Burton often draws with acrylic and pastel colors.
