The Philipp Pfaff Institute is the advanced training facility of the Berlin Dental Association and the Brandenburg State Medical Association . It was founded in March 1981 as a "Dental Training Seminar" by the Berlin Chamber of Dentists and renamed the Philipp Pfaff Institute in February 1982. In 1993 the "Philipp Pfaff Institute - advanced training facility of the State Dental Chambers of Berlin and Brandenburg GmbH" was founded in its current form.
Since September 2002 the institute has been based in the Charité Center for Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine CC 3 - Campus Benjamin Franklin in Berlin-Wilmersdorf .
It is named after Philipp Pfaff , a German doctor and dentist , royal Prussian court dentist of Frederick the Great and a revolutionary pioneer in dentistry.

As part of the advanced training seminar for "Dental Prophylaxis Assistant" (ZMP), professional teeth cleaning is offered to patients in the practical training phase. The treatment measures are carried out by dental assistants who are in advanced training to become “Dental Prophylaxis Assistant” (ZMP) and supervised by dentists.
The training program is based on the needs and requirements of the dental professional group. For this purpose, different course concepts are implemented in the institute: with regard to their scope, their share of theory and practice and whether they are offered in small groups with a limited number of participants or in larger lecture events.
The Philipp Pfaff Institute has been certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001: 2015 since February 2011 . This certification is intended to provide evidence that the institute has introduced and maintains a quality management system for the scope “Planning and implementation of advanced and advanced training measures for dentists and their employees”. At the same time the carrier license according to AZAV (Accreditation and Licensing Ordinance for Employment Promotion) was granted.
Berlin Prophylaxis Day
The Pfaff Institute has been organizing the “Berlin Prophylaxis Day” on the first weekend in December since 1995. On two days there will be the opportunity to find out about innovations in the dental industry, especially in the field of dental prevention and prophylaxis. A dental exhibition accompanies the event.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the prophylaxis seminar of the Dental Association (ZÄK) Berlin, Ilona Kronfeld-Möhring was awarded the badge of honor of the German dental profession at the 24th Berlin Prophylaxis Day 2019.
Integration of foreign dentists
Dentists who have studied outside the European Union are often only allowed to give limited treatment in Germany.
One criterion for obtaining a dental license is therefore the passing of the "equivalence test" required by law. To prepare for this exam, the Philipp-Pfaff-Institut offers preparatory courses with a cooperation partner.

Every year the training offer appears in a catalog for dentists as well as for practice employees.
