Philipp Ahmann

Philipp Ahmann (* 1974 ) is a German conductor .

Career

Ahmann studied conducting with Marcus Creed in Cologne .

In 2005 he started working for radio choirs and has since been a guest of the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart , the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln and the Rundfunkchor Berlin .

In 2008 Ahmann was appointed chief conductor of the NDR Choir in Hamburg . There he founded the choir's own subscription series.

In addition to the elaboration of a cappella literature from all eras, the repertoire focuses on interpretations of oratorical works from the baroque to the modern. In 2013 he was appointed 1st guest conductor of the MDR Radio Choir for three years . In the 2016–17 season, Ahmann was also a guest at the Rundfunkchor Berlin and the WDR Rundfunkchor.

Philipp Ahmann has been the artistic director of the MDR radio choir since January 2020.

There are CD releases with the NDR choir and the MDR radio choir.
