Philipp Behrens

Philipp Behrens (born July 8, 1892 in Bremen , † July 14, 1948 in Bremen) was a German civil servant and landlord in Bremen.

biography

Behrens was the son of a cashier at the Bremen General Treasury. He graduated from the Bremen secondary school . After graduating from high school, he was employed in the senior judicial service in Bremen. He was a member of the German People's Party (DVP) in the 1920s and 30s . In 1924 he became a member of the Bremen citizenship . In 1926 he was appointed office director of the government chancellery and assistant to the justice commission in Bremen. In 1933 he was Councilor , 1934 Acting Mansion and then Mansion and thus head of Bremen's local government and senior civil servant. He dealt with the introduction of the German municipal code of January 30, 1935 in Bremen. Associated with this was the restriction of the independence of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen in the German Reich from 1933 to 1945 , but the ports in Bremerhaven near Bremen (1937/38) and the incorporation of Hemelingen and Mahndorf (1938). In 1942 he headed under Senator Hans-Joachim Fischer ( NSDAP ) and from 1944 under Senator Richard Duckwitz (NSDAP) the important Department I (central department with responsibility for the food and economic office) of the Senator for internal administration and he was after the departure of Senator Fischer was also his successor as Reich Defense Advisor for Bremen in 1944 .

After the Second World War , Behrens wrote about the history of Bremen during the National Socialist era . Until his untimely death, however, he was only able to complete the first part, but it was not printed.
