Philipp Ernst Raufseysen

Philipp Ernst Raufseysen (* 1743 in Danzig ; † December 21, 1775 in Neuruppin ) was a German writer .

Philipp Ernst Raufseysen was the son of a Danzig merchant. He studied philosophy, history and literature in Jena , became a member of the German Society in Wittenberg and completed his habilitation in Greifswald in 1766 . Here he ran a student theater.

Because of debts he had to leave Greifswald secretly and went into military service. He became the secretary of General Ewald Georg von Kleist . After his death in 1768 he became a common soldier and died in 1775 in the hospital. At the instigation of his friend, the Captain von Thadden , 198 of his poems were published posthumously in 1782.
