Life

Old Town Hall , Gothic hall by the city architect Philipp Groß (from 1332)

Philipp Groß was born in Nuremberg around 1290 as the son of Heinrich Groß (called Heinz der Reiche , approx. 1250-1314 / 17) from the Nuremberg council family Groß and Gisela Esler . He married Elsa Pfinzing around 1320 and had their son Philipp the Elder with her. J. († around 1382), who married Anna Groland . His older half-brother was councilor Konrad Groß , the founder of the Heilig-Geist-Spital.

Philipp Groß was the city architect of Nuremberg and built the old town hall there between 1332 and 1340 and its oldest part, the Gothic hall.

Groß is last mentioned with certainty in 1355 and probably died around 1377.
