Philipp Joseph von Toerring-Seefeld (* May 12, 1680 - October 26, 1735 ) was a Bavarian nobleman from the Toerring family .

Life

He was born the son of Count Maximilian Ferdinand von Toerring-Seefeld (1632–1683) and his wife Anna Maria Caterina Franca di San Martino d'Aglie Marchesa di San Germano (1651–1729). The father died in 1683 when Vienna was relieved of the Second Turkish Siege . The mother married Paul Fugger von Kirchberg and Weißenhorn in 1685 , with whom the son grew up.

Philipp Joseph von Toerring-Seefeld was court master of Elector Maximilian II Emanuel of Bavaria. As such, he was particularly responsible for the upbringing of the Prince Elector and later Emperor Karl Albrecht , whom he also looked after in Munich when his parents were in exile from 1705.

Count Toerring married Baron Mauritia Franziska von Fraunhofen (1693–1738) in 1709; they had 9 children. Through his wife he inherited the rule Au in the Hallertau , where they lived in Au Castle . Toerring had a particular interest in history, family history and antiquities.
