Philipp Polzin

Philipp Polzin (born January 29, 1985 in Cologne ) is a German composer , musical director , pianist and producer .

Life

Polzin grew up in Frechen near Cologne and received his musical training at the music school in Frechen (piano). From 2005 to 2007 he studied musicology, theater, film and television studies as well as phonetics at the University of Cologne. It was here that he met his later composing partner Christian D. Dellacher. In 2007 he switched to the audio and video technology course at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences and the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf , majoring in piano, from which he graduated in 2012.

During his training in 2010, he took over the musical direction of the German premiere of the musical tick, tick, BOOM ...! by the musical ensemble Erft. In 2012 he also took over this position in the follow-up production RENT and worked at the Bad Hersfeld Festival as a répétiteur for the musical Anatevka and at the premiere of the musical The Creation of the World as assistant to the composer Stephan Kanyar at the Schauspiel Essen .

In 2010 he met the musical tenor Chris Murray , with whom he subsequently produced two CDs ( A very murray christmas , Musical times 5 ) and accompanied innumerable concerts as a pianist (since 2015 annual concert tour Musical Christmas ).

From 2014 to 2016 Polzin was musical director on the ships AIDAvita and AIDAsol . Since 2016 he has been the musical director and arranger for the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival ( Der kleine Horrorladen , Summer in the City , Maria, he doesn't like it ). In 2019, he took over the musical direction of the world premiere of the musical Sherlock Holmes - Next Generation in the First Stage Theater Hamburg .

Together with Christian D. Dellacher, he created the musical The Flying Dutchman , which was premiered in concert by the WDR Funkhausorchester in Cologne on February 23, 2018 . In 2015, his chamber musical The Perfect Night was presented as a tryout in the Frechener Haus am Bahndamm . In 2013 he wrote for the Disabled Sports Association of Lower Saxony e. V. the motto song "Der Spurti-Song".
