Philipp Schall from Bell
Philipp Schall von Bell († 1560 in Moscow ) was Land Marshal of the Teutonic Order in Livonia .
Life
Philipp was a member of the Westphalian noble family Schall von Bell . He was born in the Cologne - Bonn area, joined the order and went to Livonia. From 1541 to 1543 he was the shepherd's companion in Wenden and from 1545 to 1551 he was house commander in Riga . After that he was Commander of Marienburg from 1551 to 1558 . As the last Land Marshal of the Order in Livonia, he held this office from 1558 to 1560. On August 2, 1560, he was captured by the Russians at the Battle of Ermes and executed in Moscow before December .
