Philipp Carl Strahl

Philipp Karl Joseph Strahl (nickname Philipp Strahl , Russian Филиппъ Штралъ ; * 1781 , † May 6, 1840 at sea during the return trip from England to the continent) was a German historian.

Life

He was a doctor of jurisprudence , canon law and philosophy . After studying with August Ludwig von Schlözer in Göttingen and a seven-year stay in Russia, he was lecturer in English, French and Russian and an associate professor at the University of Bonn from 1818 . In 1827 he was appointed full professor of historical auxiliary sciences at the University of Bonn . Philipp Strahl was a member of the Academy of Sciences in Erfurt .

He was married to Maria Antoinette, née Klöppel. He had 4 children.
