Philippe Husson

Philippe Jean Louis Marie Husson (born July 22, 1927 in Nouméa , New Caledonia , † August 30, 2016 ) was a French diplomat.

Life

Philippe Husson, son of the marriage of the French general Jean Husson and Antoinette Leclerc, studied law and received his doctorate in law from the Institut d'études politiques de Paris . After further training at the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA) , he entered the civil service and from 1952 worked in Morocco, Moscow, Washington and Ottawa. In 1974 he became counselor in Moscow. In 1977 he became Deputy Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations in New York. From 1977 to 1980 he was a member of the French delegation to the General Assembly of the United Nations .

From 1981 to 1984 he was the French ambassador to Finland . Subsequently, Husson was the assistant inspector general for foreign affairs. From 1987 to 1989 he was ambassador to Canada. In 1990 he took over the management of the archives and records in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1992 he was appointed foreign policy advisor to the government and was appointed Ministre plénipotentiaire , acting as Minister Plenipotentiary on behalf of the Minister of State, the Minister for Foreign Affairs.

He was married to Christiane Marchand since 1956; there are three sons from the marriage.
