Philippe Kahn (born March 16, 1952 in Paris ) is a French-American entrepreneur and founder of Borland .

Life

Kahn studied at the ETH Zurich and the University of Nice and completed his studies with a master's degree in mathematics. During his studies he also came into contact with the Micral , one of the first personal computers .

In 1982 he went to the USA and founded the Borland company , which he was managing director until 1994. In 1994 he and his wife Sonia Lee founded Starfish, which was taken over by Motorola in 1998 . Then he founded the company LightSurf, which he managed until 2004, one year after leaving LightSurf, this company was taken over by VeriSign . In 2004 he founded the company Fullpower, which operates in the multimedia messaging service market.

He and his wife have a daughter. Kahn has three more children from a previous relationship. He is fluent in English, French, Spanish and German.

music

Kahn trained in classical music with a focus on the flute in Zurich . In the USA he has recorded CDs with well-known jazz musicians such as John Abercrombie and Dave Liebman . He has appeared as a band leader on two CD productions - Walkin 'On The Moon (1991) and Paradiso (1992).
