Anton Baumgartner

Anton Baumgärtner (* 1815 ; † 1871 in Regensburg ) was a German teacher and local researcher .

Baumgärtner worked from 1848 to 1864 at the trade school in Freising as a religion and realism teacher. In 1864 he was appointed professor at a grammar school in Regensburg .

Baumgärtner made lasting contributions as a local researcher. In 1854 he re-published the Historia Frisingensis , written by the Benedictine Father Karl Meichelbeck , and continued it in two volumes. In it he describes the history of the diocese from 1727 to 1852. A street in Freising is named after him .
