Phineas Parkhurst Quimby
Phineas Parkhurst Quimby (born February 16, 1802 in Lebanon , New Hampshire , † January 16, 1866 in Belfast , Maine ) was an American naturopath . Quimby is considered the spiritual father of the Neugeist movement .
His conception, close to the spiritualists , referred to the Spirit of God as the healing universal spirit , which he understood as the all-animating principle of harmony and goodness. Evil and illness in human life are the consequences of negative thinking. Only "correct" thinking that affirms God can heal body and soul. With this, Quimby anticipated central beliefs in today's esotericism and the slogan " positive thinking ".
