Phobic is an Italian death metal band from Taranto that was formed in 1997.

history

The band was formed in the winter of 1997 by the singer and guitarist Harian, the guitarist Nicko, the drummer Carmelo and the bassist Joan. After a few months, Harian and Joan left the line-up, whereupon the singer Skull and the bassist Luca "Necros" Capalbo joined them. In January 1998 a first demo was recorded under the name Over Turn the Cross with producer Mark Urselli in Maelstrom Studios . In the same year the song Christian Lie was contributed to the sampler Dawn of Gods III by Metal Horse Productions . In August 1998 the second demo advanced tape was recorded in 1998 when Capalbo left the band and was replaced by Amon. In March 1999 the band signed a record deal with the Italian label Elegy Productions , after which they recorded their debut album in September and released it in 2001 under the title Sick Blemished Uncreation . The appearance followed several appearances before the band broke up in 2002.

In 2003, Harian re-founded the band with guitarist Fabrizio Moro and the rest of the line-up on the debut album. However, it collapsed again shortly afterwards, as Harian moved to northern Italy. In 2006 Phobic was revived again, this time by Harian's brother Robert "Hammer" after he left his previous band Horrid . While this took the vocal post, Giovanni Mantini aka Vanny Hate took over the drums. After several months a suitable bass player was found in Gabriel. At the end of 2009 Robert left the band and was replaced by singer Jericho. In December 2010 work on the album The Holy Deceiver was finished. After the band signed a record deal with Punishment 18 Records , the album was released in 2012. After the release of a demo in 2014, which contains the two songs When the Darkness Shall Cover the Earth and The Traitor Touch , 2016 became the new one Cast announced, which consisted of the guitarist Harian, the singer Davide Ricciuti aka Dave Satras and the bassist Michael Kohlmann.

style

Frank Stöver from voicesfromthedarkside.de wrote in his review of Sick Blemished Uncreation that you can hear Death Metal in the style of Swedish representatives like Dismember and Carnage . Only the song SL-999 can be assigned to electronic music . According to Björn Backes of Powermetal.de lacks The Holy Deceiver of independence, the group thrash metal - riffs with death metal grooves mixed. Overall, he assigned the style to Old School Death Metal, which uses the American and Swedish ways of playing.
