Carnage was a Swedish death metal band from Stockholm , which was founded in 1988 under the name Global Carnage and disbanded in 1990.
history
The band was founded in 1988 by guitarist Michael Amott and bassist and singer Johan Liiva as Global Carnage. A short time later guitarist Johnny Dordevic and drummer Jeppe Larsson joined them. The band released two demos in 1989 with The Day Man Lost and Infestation of Evil . The band was subject to frequent line-up changes, so that on the album Dark Recollections in 1990 only Michael Amott was represented as a founding member. Singer Matti Kärki , guitarist David Blomkuist and drummer Fred Estby were new members . Even before the album was officially released, the band broke up again. The album was originally included on the split release Dark Recollections / Hallucinating Anxiety , which was released via Necrosis Records , a sub-label of Earache Records . It was re-released in 2000 with bonus songs.
Michael Amott joined Carcass after the dissolution and later founded Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars with Johan Liiva . Matti Kärki , David Blomqvist and Fred Estby played at Dismember .
style
The band started out as a grindcore project that over time evolved into an old school death metal project. The music is compared to Dismember's album Like an Ever Flowing Stream .
