Volker Jung

Volker Jung (* 22. October 1968 in Paderborn , † 7. April 2015 ) was a German politician of the CDU and member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . In the state elections in 2012 , he won the direct mandate in the Paderborn I state electoral district and achieved the CDU's best first vote result in the country with 52.2 percent of the votes.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1988, he studied business administration in Paderborn. He graduated in 1994 with a degree in business administration. Jung then worked in marketing at various credit institutions, and since 1997 as marketing manager for various regional credit institutions. In 2010 he moved to the Bonifatiuswerk until he moved into the state parliament and worked as a donor supervisor.

Jung was married and had two sons. He died on April 7, 2015 at the age of 46.

Sports

Until 2005, Jung was assistant referee for five series of games in the 2nd Bundesliga . He was the managing director of the Lichtenau City Sports Association.

Political career

In 2005, Jung took over the chairmanship of the CDU local union in Herbram . In 2007 he became deputy chairman of the CDU city association Lichtenau (Westphalia) . In 2008 he became chairman. He was elected to the City Council of Lichtenau and Mayor of Herbram in 2009. Since 2010 he has been a member of the CDU district executive in Paderborn.

In the NRW state elections in 2012 , Jung ran as a direct candidate for the CDU for the Paderborn-Land constituency and won the direct mandate with 52.2 percent of the first votes. In the state parliament he was a full member of the budget and finance committee as well as the sports committee. He was a deputy member of the Committee for Climate Protection, Environment, Nature Conservation, Agriculture and Consumer Protection and the Committee for Economy, Energy, Industry, SMEs and Crafts. He was also elected one of the secretaries in the state parliament. After his death, Ulla Thönnern moved up for him .

Positions

Jung spoke out several times in favor of keeping the Teutoburg Forest and the Egge Mountains as a nature park. As mayor of Herbram, he called for a demonstration against a possible national park.

Jung rejected a tightening of the non-smoker protection law, which provides for an unexceptional smoking ban for restaurants, shooting clubs and private parties in public spaces.
