Forrest Clare "Phog" Allen (born November 18, 1885 in Jamesport , Missouri , † September 16, 1974 in Lawrence , Kansas ) was an American college basketball coach . As coach of the Kansas Jayhawks , the team at the University of Kansas , he won the NCAA championships twice . The University of Kansas basketball hall is named after him ( Allen Field House , popularly often just The Phog ).
For his career achievement, Allen was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1959 .
