Lake Phoksundo is located in the Himalayas in the Dolpa district of Nepal .
The lake is located in the She-Phoksundo National Park at an altitude of 3612 m . It has a water surface of 494 hectares. The lake is 5.15 km long and has a maximum width of 800 m. The water volume is 409 million m³. The maximum water depth is 145 m.
The Phoksundo Lake is drained to the south via the Suligad and Thuli Bheri . The lake was created around 30,000–40,000 years ago by a landslide at its southern end.
Since September 2007, Lake Phoksundo has been a designated Ramsar area .
