The Neustrelitz photovoltaic system is a solar park in the north of the city of Neustrelitz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . On December 17th, 2009 the park was connected to the power grid .

construction

The 25  hectare facility was built on land that was formerly used by the military. Until the withdrawal of the Soviet armed forces in 1993, their barracks were on the site. Although the buildings were demolished, there was no interested party in the area until the IBC Solar company from Bad Staffelstein in Franconia acquired it in July 2009. Due to the previous use, the construction site had to be cleared of military remains by the ammunition tracing service before construction began . In the first construction phase, 34,261 company-owned polycrystalline modules were installed on 22 hectares from August to December 2009 . The modules are mounted transversely in two rows, one above the other, inclined at 27.5 ° and facing south. In the second construction phase from October to December, an additional 4,752 polycrystalline modules from Yingli Green Energy were installed on a further three hectares .

power

Under ideal conditions, the system has a nominal output of 8.09  MWp . For at least the next 25 years, 6,846 MWh will be fed into the power grid per year  , which corresponds to an average average output of 790  kW . This can supply around 2,680 average households with electrical energy. The annual CO 2 savings made possible by this amount to approx. 4,480 t. The city of Neustrelitz has leased the space to IBC Solar for 20 years. Afterwards, the solar modules can either be dismantled or purchased by the city.
