IBC Solar ( International Battery and Solar Power Consulting , spelling: IBC SOLAR) is a company active in the field of photovoltaics that, as a system house, sells photovoltaic power plants, solar parks and systems for off-grid power supply as well as components for photovoltaic systems and offers related services. The company's headquarters are in Bad Staffelstein in Upper Franconia . IBC Solar is represented by seven national companies in Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, South Africa, India, Japan and Singapore and employs around 365 people, 265 of them in Germany.

Fields of activity

IBC Solar sells complete solar systems with all the components required for photovoltaic power generation through electrical installers, roofers and plumbing and heating engineers. In addition, IBC Solar implements photovoltaic systems for large commercial customers. The product portfolio includes solar modules , mounting systems, inverters , display and measurement technology, charge controllers , cables, connector systems , batteries , solar pumps, lamps, cooling devices, as well as the development of assembly technology, profitability calculations, monitoring via PC and after-sales services.

history

The company was founded in 1982 by Udo Möhrstedt , who is the owner of the company. With International Battery and Solar Power Consulting (IBC), the graduate physicist, who had previously worked for the battery manufacturer Varta for many years, focused on advice on energy supply using batteries and charging them with the help of solar energy, as well as on the sale of photovoltaic ones Complete solutions. The continuous growth in sales and employee numbers brought IBC Solar three times under Bavaria's Best 50 . The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs awards this prize to the 50 fastest growing companies. For his services to the promotion of solar power and his commitment to increasing its acceptance, he was selected by Ernst & Young as Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 in the “Trade” category.

In the 2017 calendar year, IBC Solar generated consolidated total sales of 344 million euros.

In October 2019, the company's headquarters were searched by customs officers as part of a criminal investigation by the public prosecutor's office in Hof , after the company had sold photovoltaic modules with a total output of around 75 megawatts from Chinese production under the IBC Solar brand in the period from March 2015 to August 2016, without that the country of manufacture of the modules had been correctly identified and that the import duties of around 23 million euros incurred as part of anti-dumping measures had been paid. IBC Solar bought the modules from a UK distributor and sees itself as a victim of fraud. The company provided a security deposit of 6 million euros for the unpaid import duties and is making claims against the British importer of the modules.

Major projects

Plant in Neustrelitz

In Spain, as a partner of Enercoop , IBC Solar has commissioned a photovoltaic power plant with a nominal output of 13.2  MW , which has been supplying electricity near Alicante since 2008. As the general contractor for Greenpeace Energy , IBC Solar planned and implemented the sixth largest photovoltaic roof worldwide at the New Stuttgart Trade Fair Center , which is to supply 1,100 households with 3.45  GWh of electrical energy per year. In September 2009, a system was put into operation on the roof of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Berlin , which feeds around 430 MWh of electrical energy into the public grid every year. In order to expand this business area further, IBC Solar took over the majority in the project developer KPM SUN in September 2009 . In the second half of 2009, IBC Solar built a solar park with a nominal output of 8.06 MWp in Neustrelitz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , and in the following year another one with a nominal output of 7 MWp in Grimmen .

Solar funds

The “Solar Funds” division is bundled in IBC Solar Invest GmbH and enables investors to participate in photovoltaic power plants through solar funds. Since the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) guarantees a fixed feed-in tariff for 20 years, investors can benefit from this investment opportunity with high earnings security. IBC Solar Invest has already launched 16 such solar funds, in which investors can participate with an investment volume of EUR 5,000 or more. Thus playing IBC Solar Invest the entire project management of the audit of the sites, creation of the financing concept, obtaining all permits, for the distribution and management, to the construction of the plant, the marketing of the units and monitoring .

Cooperations

IBC Solar is involved in a large number of projects internationally. As a partner of the German Energy Agency ( dena ), the company has implemented international "lighthouse projects " such as for the German School in Rome, the German School in Lisbon and for the Goethe Institute in Bangalore, in order to develop the pioneering energy generation technology "Made in Germany" the whole world to use. The “Peace House” in Kabul, an aid project that supports medical care and schooling for Afghan boys and girls, is supplied with electricity independently by an IBC solar system . IBC SOLAR solar pumps secure and simplify the water supply for rural regions in Africa. In addition, IBC Solar supports the development of systems for decentralized power supply in rural Africa through a stake in KAÏTO Energie AG . KAÏTO Projekt GmbH was awarded the 2009 Solar Prize by Eurosolar for the project to supply electricity to rural West Africa .
