Udo Möhrstedt

Udo Möhrstedt (born May 27, 1940 in Recklinghausen ) is a German physicist and entrepreneur.

Life

Möhrstedt studied physics at the universities of Münster and Gießen from 1960 to 1967 and graduated as a physicist. From 1966 to 1979 he was head of the application technology department at the battery manufacturer VARTA . After joining the firm he founded in 1982 in minor accumulators Staffelstein the IBC Solar as an engineering firm for battery and solar technology. During the oil crisis of 1973/74, he had already thought about building a power supply that was independent of oil.

In the following years he continued to develop the company and is now represented by regional companies in seven countries. His company was among Bavaria's Best 50 three times . For his services to the promotion of solar power and his commitment to increasing its acceptance, he was selected by Ernst & Young as Entrepreneur of the Year in the “Trade” category in 2009.

He is a co-founder of the symposium on photovoltaic solar energy in Kloster Banz and was a member of the board and spokesman of the board of directors of the Federal Solar Energy Association from 1996 to 2002 . He is a member of the Energy Advisory Board of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology .
