Friedrich Rittinger (born December 6, 1833 in Michelbach , Grand Duchy of Baden , † October 12, 1897 in Kitchener (Ontario) , Canada) was editor of the Berlin Journal .

Life

Friedrich Rittinger came to Canada in 1847 at the age of 14 with his father and three siblings. In 1859 he founded the publishing house "Rittinger & Motz" with John Motz in Berlin ( Ontario ) . The company published and printed a number of newspapers, starting with the weekly Berliner Journal . It appeared from 1859 to 1899 and was considered the leading German-language newspaper in Canada.

A son of Friedrich Rittinger was the editor and humorist John Adam Rittinger (1859-1915).
