Furud (also Phurud , Arabic فرد 'The loners') is the name for the star ζ Canis Majoris (Zeta Canis Majoris ). Furud has an apparent magnitude of +3.1 mag and belongs to the spectral class B3. Furud has a companion with a brightness of +7.6 mag at a distance of 176 "which can be seen in binoculars at a position angle of 176". Furud's distance to Earth is about 330 light years .
