Physics is a 2010 Cashiers studio album .

background

The main topic of physics is reflected in some of the songs, for example “quantum physics” is introduced with a quote from Niels Bohr . Overall, the amount of fecal humor is slightly less than on the previous albums, instead there are more intellectual and profound songs. The instrumentation is once again diversified and ranges from synthesizers to home organs to zither . Mambo Kurt made a guest appearance in the hip-hop parody “No Future, That Was Yesterday” .

As usual, the album contains a few cover versions:

  • "Down with work", original title "Who invented work (song of the Pennbrüder)" ( Harry Steier )
  • "Everything is bleeding to me" ( Peter Igelhoff )
  • "Wirtshausschlägerei", modification of "In the Christmas Bakery" ( Rolf Zuckowski )
  • "What kind of ticker is a politician?" ( Georg Kreisler )
  • "The Song of the Burning Questions of Time" ( The News )

reception

Carsten Vollmer criticized the lack of a big "hit" in the Ox-Fanzine, but praised the variety of genres and the band as a total work of art. The Moloko Plus awarded 8 out of 10 points and praised the consistency of the band with their tightrope walk between genius and madness. Even in the Metal Hammer the record was celebrated as intellectual and the special humor highlighted.
