Pi yen

The Pi Yen ( Thai : ปี่ เญ็ น ) is one of the piercing tongue instruments and has a single piercing tongue . It is played in the south of the Isan , the northeast of Thailand .

The reed consists of a small, thin metal fastener like the Khaen . The Pi Yen is used in an ensemble and played to all the folk sounds of southern Isaan.
