Pickford

Pickford is an English family name. As a name of origin or residence , it refers either to the place Pickforde (now part of Ticehurst ) in Sussex , or to the village of Pitchford in Shropshire . In the former case it would ultimately go back to Old English picga , " pig " and ford , " ford ", in the case of Pitchford, however, to Old English pic , " bad luck " and ford , "ford". Pickford (or Picford, Pykeford or similar) has been traceable as a family name since the 13th century.
