Eduard Pickford

Eduard Middleton Pickford (born November 12, 1823 in Heidelberg , † March 18, 1866 in Karlsruhe ) was a German economist and politician . He was a member of the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly (1863–1866).

Life

The son of a from Manchester originating factory he made after attending the school in Hanau and trade school in Leipzig one training to merchant in Lyon . After graduating from high school in Heidelberg in 1844, he studied camera studies in Heidelberg until 1846 , where he became a member of the Teutonia Heidelberg fraternity in 1845 . In 1847 he was promoted to Dr. phil. doctorate and habilitation in 1849. From 1850 to 1860 he was a private lecturer in political science at the University of Heidelberg . At the first congress of German economists in 1858 he was elected to the "permanent deputation" of the congress. In 1863 he was a co-founder of the Heidelberg workers' education association . In the same year, as in 1865, he was elected to the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly as a member of the City of Heidelberg. He was one of the leaders of the Baden People's Party . In 1857 and 1858 he was co-editor of the economic magazine Germania and from 1858 of the national economic monthly . In 1860 he founded the People's Newspaper for Southern Germany . In 1863 he moved to Konstanz , where he became editor of the Konstanzer Zeitung .
