Pier Francesco Gianoli (born June 13, 1624 in Campertogno ; died December 18, 1690 in Varallo ) was an Italian painter.

Life

Pier Francesco Gianoli comes from the family of a Milanese silk and jewelry dealer. He grew up in Milan, where he learned in the studio of the painter Carlo Antonio Rossi. Gianoli studied at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome, where he came under the influence of Andrea Sacchi and Carlo Maratta , who was of the same age .

In 1652 he returned to Milan and married Anna Comma from Milan, they had five children. He painted in the churches of Valsesia and from 1655 also had orders for the design of the pilgrimage site Sacro Monte di Varallo . In 1658 his father bought him and his brother a house in Varallo .
