Pier Ruggero Piccio

Pier Ruggero Piccio (born September 27, 1880 in Rome ; † July 31, 1965 there ) was an Italian fighter pilot , general and senator .

Life

Piccio began his officer training at the Military Academy in Modena in October 1898 and then served in the infantry . In 1913 he joined the air force as a captain and completed his pilot training there. During the First World War , he achieved 24 aerial victories and was the third most successful Italian fighter pilot after Francesco Baracca and Silvio Scaroni .

From October 1923 to March 1925 Piccio was "Commander", from January 1926 to February 1927 first Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force , which was set up as a military service on March 28, 1923 , and expanded it with the then State Secretary and later Minister of Aviation Italo Balbo . From 1921 to 1923, 1925 and from 1928 to 1935 Piccio was the Italian Air Force Attaché in Paris .

In 1933 Pier Ruggero Piccio was appointed senator . He died in Rome in 1965.
