Pierfrancesco di Lorenzo de 'Medici the Elder (* 1430 in Florence ; † July 19, 1476 ) was a member of the Florentine Medici family . He was the son of Lorenzo di Giovanni de 'Medici , the younger brother of Cosimo de' Medici .

Pierfrancesco was envoy to Pope Pius II in 1458 and in Mantua in 1463 . From 1459 he was responsible for the negotiations with the Florentine guild leaders (Priori delle Arti). Naturally, Pierfrancesco stood in the shadow of his uncle Cosimo or, after his death, in that of his son Piero di Cosimo de 'Medici , who were the heads of the family. Both often resorted to their relatives for diplomatic missions, so that Pierfrancesco also had a share in the expansion of the power of the Medici family.

Pierfrancesco married Laudomia Acciaiuoli in 1451, with whom he had two sons: Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de 'Medici , called il Popolano (1463–1503), and Giovanni di Pierfrancesco de' Medici , called il Popolano (1467–1498).
