Pierre-François Unger

Pierre-François Unger (born August 21, 1951 , resident in Geneva ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

After completing his medical studies with a diploma, Unger took over the management of the emergency department at the Geneva University Hospital (HUG) in 1986 . From 1999 he worked as a medical professor.

In 1993 he was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva . Three years later (1996) he took over the presidium of the CVP Geneva and headed it until 1998. In 1999 he left the Grand Council and was elected to the State Council two years later on November 11, 2001 , where he headed the Department of Social Affairs and Health . He was re-elected on November 13, 2005 and has since headed the newly named Department of Environment and Health . From December 2005 to December 2006 Unger was President of the State Council.

Unger is married and has two children. He lives in Geneva.
