Pierre-Sébastien Laurentie

Pierre-Sébastien Laurentie (born January 21, 1793 in Le Houga , Département Gers , † February 9, 1876 in Paris ) was a French historian and publicist.

After completing his studies, Laurentie got a job as a teacher at the Collège in Saint-Sever ; later he moved to the same position at the Collège Stanislas in Paris.

In 1818 Laurentie was appointed repetitor for the historical course at the École polytechnique and five years later he was promoted to general inspector of public education. As such, he was considered one of the most important defenders of the Catholic-monarchical worldview.

Laurentie was editor-in-chief of Quotidienne magazine for many years . Later he led together with F.-P. Lubis the magazine l'Union (before 1848 L'Union monarchique ), in whose editorials he combined depth of thought with tasteful presentation.
