Pierre Arnollet

Pierre Arnollet , actually Pierre Jean Baptiste Arnollet (born May 21, 1776 in Pontailler-sur-Saône , Département Côte-d'Or , † January 30, 1857 in Dijon , Dépt. Côte-d'Or) was a French engineer.

Life

Arnollet studied at the École polytechnique in Paris and then became a member of the Corps des ingénieurs des ponts et chaussées . With effect from March 16, 1790 Napoleon Bonaparte appointed him to the Commission des sciences et des arts , which was to accompany his Egyptian expedition (1798-1801) scientifically. As a member of this commission, he was also involved in the creation of the Description de l'Égypte .

After his return he settled in Dijon. There he mostly dealt with the technology of the railroad and its routes and he was also involved in the atmospheric Paris - Saint-Germain-en-Laye railroad .

Pierre Arnollet died on January 30, 1857 in Dijon, where he found his final resting place.
