Pierre Brochand

Pierre Brochand (born July 4, 1941 in Cannes ) is a former French diplomat , most recently with the rank of ambassador.

Life

Pierre Brochand is the son of Paul Brochand, an accountant. After entering the diplomatic service , he initially worked at headquarters from 1968 to 1971. From 1971 to 1973 he was first class embassy secretary in Saigon and from 1973 to 1975 he was counselor in Saigon. From 1975 to 1979 he was counselor in Bangkok . From 1979 to 1982 he was Consul General in San Francisco . From 1982 to 1985 he served in the Asia and Pacific department, from 1985 to 1989 he was employed at the UN headquarters . From December 23, 1989 to August 5, 1993 he was ambassador to Budapest . From August 13, 1993 to November 16, 1995 he was ambassador to Tel Aviv . From 1995 to 1998 he headed the administration department at the head office. From December 23, 1998 to October 11, 2002, he was ambassador to Lisbon .

From July 25, 2002 to October 9, 2008, he headed the French foreign intelligence service Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure .
