Pierre Daninos
Pierre Daninos (born May 26, 1913 in Paris , France , † January 7, 2005 in Paris) was a French journalist and writer .
Life
Daninos was born in Paris to Greek parents, his grandfather's name was Ernest Daninos, his cousin was the engineer Adrian Daninos (1887–1976), spiritual father and sponsor of the Aswan Dam . His older brother was the aerospace and automotive engineer Jean Daninos (1906–2001), founder of the Facel plants and the Facel Vega automobile brand .
Pierre Daninos studied journalism before becoming a French liaison officer to the British Army during World War II . In the 1960s he became depressed and underwent psychoanalysis , which inspired him to write "The Black Couch".

In 1954 his world hit Major Thompson discovered the French . The work has been translated into 27 languages and nearly two million copies have been sold in France alone. The book describes the manners and bad habits of the French from the perspective of a British officer . Daninos explains who taught mankind table manners, namely the British. But he also freely admitted that the English cannot make coffee. The French, on the other hand, would have taught "us" about good food. The work was filmed in 1955 by Preston Sturges and later again as The French, They Are a Funny Race in the USA.
Pierre Daninos then wrote other similarly humorous and socially critical books and novels. The novel Monsieur Blot describes the fate of an "average French" and became Danino's second most successful book. Charles de Gaulle wrote a letter of praise to Daninos about it. In 1964 his snobbery guide Snobissimo appeared , in which he gives tips for a decadent life, from the choice of the small car to the correct final resting place.
Pierre Daninos came up with the idea of naming a Ford model car body by Facel " Comète " and came up with the brand name "Facel Vega" (Facel stands for Forges et Ateliers de Construction d'Eure-et-Loir ).
