Pierre Enon

The Pierre Enon boulder is located near the "Chemin de la Pierre Enon" road, south of the hamlet of Vogna in the municipality of Arinthod in the Jura department in France .

A glacier from the Riss Ice Age left behind the large , cubic limestone cliffs lying on the edge . It is about 8.0 m high and 6.0 m wide. The block is a few feet from the cliff. It may have been detached from the rock face during the ice retreat and landed on the edge of the tongue of ice. It got its current place when the glacier disappeared. Its name comes from the Celtic "Henon" or from the Greek "Henos", which means "old man".

According to legend, fairies sometimes dance around the huge rock at dusk.
