Pierre Haab

Pierre E. Haab (born June 18, 1928 ; † July 6, 2008 in Friborg , Switzerland) was a Swiss physiologist .

Life

Pierre Haab studied medicine at the University of Lausanne . In 1953 he passed the state examination as a doctor, in 1957 he received his doctorate in physiology . He then did a postdoc at the University at Buffalo and Emory University in Atlanta.

After several years as a lecturer at the University of Lausanne and at the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine in Göttingen, he became Professor of Physiology and Director of the Institute of Physiology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) in 1964 . There he was dean in 1970/1971 and vice- rector from 1983 to 1987 . He was also involved in the Swiss University Conference . In 1995 he retired .

Haab was the author of numerous publications in the fields of respiratory physiology and cardiovascular disease.
