Pierre Julien Eymard
Pierre Julien Eymard (born February 4, 1811 in La Mure ; † August 1, 1868 there ) was a Catholic priest and founder of the order. He was on December 9, 1962 by Pope John XXIII. canonized .
Life
Pierre Julien Eymard came from a modest background; his father ran a small trade in olive oil. He felt drawn to the church at an early age and entered the minimite monastery in Grenoble after the death of his father in 1831 . He was ordained a priest in 1834 and joined the Marist Order in 1839 . To promote the worship of the Eucharist , Eymard founded the Communion of the Eucharist in Paris in 1856 . Twelve years later the female branch of the Order of the Servants of the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar was founded.
