Pierre Léonard Vander Linden
Pierre Léonard Vander Linden ( December 12, 1797 - April 5, 1831 ) was a Belgian entomologist .
He received a scholarship in October 1817 and was able to study botany in Italy under Antonio Bertoloni (1775–1869) and zoology with Camillo Ranzani (1775–1841). He received his doctorate in medicine on April 17, 1821 in Bolonga and went to Paris via Sicily for a short time. In 1822 he returned to Belgium and received his Ph.D. on July 15, 1823. of the University of Leuven. He then became the first professor of zoology in Belgium.
Vander Linden was a professor of zoology and specialized in the study of hymenoptera . His main work is Observations sur les hymenoptères d'Europe de la famille des fouisseurs , the first part of which he published in 1827 under the title Scoliètes, sapygites, pompiliens et sphégides . He published the second part in 1829 under the title Bembecides, labrates, nyssoniens et crabronites .
