Pierre Traverse (born April 1, 1892 in Saint-André-de-Cubzac , France , † July 4, 1979 in Paris , France) was a French sculptor .

Life

The father Pierre Traverses sent his son to Limoges , where he received his first training with the sculptor Philippon and at the École des arts décoratifs de Limoges . In Paris he studied with the sculptor Jean-Antoine Injalbert at the École des Beaux-Arts and was a student of Antoine Bourdelle and Joseph Bernard .

He was represented at numerous exhibitions, including the Parisian salons of the Société des Artistes Français , Société du Salon d'Automne and the Société des artistes décorateurs . He was a member of the Société des Artistes Français . In 1921 he received the silver medal, in 1926 the gold medal, the Prix ​​Blumenthal in 1932 and an honorary diploma at the Paris World Exhibition in 1937 .

Traverse belonged to the artist group La Stèle founded by the Éditeur d'art (art publisher) and sculptor Arthur Goldscheider in the early 1920s with representatives of Art Deco , whose work Goldscheider exhibited in 1925 at the Paris Exposition internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modern .
