Pierre de Boissieu

Pierre de Boissieu (born June 14, 1945 in Paris ) is a French diplomat .

Pierre de Boissieu has been Deputy Secretary General of the EU Council of Ministers under Javier Solana , who was also the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy , since October 18, 1999 . At the special summit of the European Council on November 19, 2009 in Brussels, it was decided that de Boissieu would take over the post of Secretary General, which was separated from that of the High Representative by the Treaty of Lisbon . He was thus considered "the right hand of the future president".

On June 26, 2011, de Boissieu was replaced in the role of Secretary General by the German Chancellery official Uwe Corsepius .
