Pierre du Diable

The Dolmen Pierre du Diable ( German  "Teufelsstein" ) - also with the more common name "Dolmen de Peyrelevade", (e.g. Dolmen de Peyrelevade (Brantôme) or referred to as Griffoul dolmen) is located on a hill east of Vitrac south of Sarlat-la-Canéda in the Dordogne department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The dolmen consists of an approximately 0.8 m thick limestone capstone about 2.5 m long, which rests on two supports about 0.3 m above the ground and has several small bowls ( French cupules ).

Its name comes from an old regional legend.
