Pietro Benassi (born June 7, 1958 in Rome ) is an Italian diplomat.

He studied political science at the University of Padua . His diplomatic career took him to posts abroad in Brussels , Havana , Warsaw and as ambassador to Tunis . From 2002 to 2005 he headed the political department of the Italian embassy in Berlin . In May 2013 he was appointed head of the ministerial office of Foreign Minister Emma Bonino . From September 23, 2014 to August 31, 2018 he was the Italian ambassador in Berlin . On August 31, 2018, he was appointed diplomatic advisor to the Italian Prime Minister.
